The Alchemical Chronicles

The
Story
London, 1888.
Clara Whitmore is a determined and gifted researcher at the British Museum. She uncovers a lost alchemical manuscript once touched by the hand of John Dee, once adviser to Queen Elizabeth I. As she works to decipher the Codex Arcanum, she finds herself caught in a tightening net of scientific secrecy, coded manuscripts, and unsolved crimes.
Rival scholars, veiled patrons, and Scotland Yard all take an interest in her work when a sudden death in the museum’s circle raises suspicions. As Clara follows a trail of symbols and experiments, she is drawn not only into dangerous inquiries but into the orbit of a man whose loyalties may prove as complex as the Codex itself.
